ARCHITECTURE AND THE SENSES
Megan Carruzzo
Our experience living in modern cities allows us to imagine what abandoned places might have been like in the past. Although the buildings—meaning the architecture—are now destroyed or left to decay, the spirit and atmosphere of these places remain perceptible. As we walk through these neglected sites, we can feel the echoes of the past and envision the life that once unfolded there. The remnants of the old life, even in the form of ruins, continue to convey stories and emotions, providing us with a glimpse into what life might have been like in these now deserted spaces. Thus, despite the physical deterioration, the essence of the city remains tangible, inviting us to reflect on its history and transformation.
